Residence permit and internship

Residence permit

On Wednesday we applied for our residence permits. We need them because an X2 student visa normally isn't enough to do an internship. You actually need a visa that lets you work. So we've now converted our visas into residence permits, which means we 'really' live here in Shanghai now. That's why we can now simply do our internship.

So despite a bit of a delay, on Thursday we started working at the office of my internship company. I'm now working as a web development intern at G2S Creative Workshop, a marketing and advertising company. There's a really good atmosphere in the office and lots of young, non-Asian employees. We currently work from 9:30 to 18:30, which is fairly long. Luckily we go out for a nice lunch around midday!

Weekend & plans

On Friday after our internship we went with a group from Hutong to an escape room by Mr. X. It was great fun, and the first time I'd ever done one!

Before you were allowed in, you had to hand in all your things, and then they checked you with a metal detector(!). Once inside the dark room, you have to find the solution to get to the next rooms. For some things you have to think hard, for others you have to work together really well.

It was a really fun experience. This is the group we did it with:

For now it'll be a bit harder to write lots of blog posts. I'm going to be a lot busier with my internship, so I'll have a lot less time to work on my blog and do fun things. Of course I'll try to keep it up as well as I can.

I can definitely stick it out here!
