Chinese class, beer and internship!
Chinese
This week is an intensive Chinese week for me. That means I have 4 hours of Chinese class a day, from 14:30 to 18:30. As you can imagine, that's pretty long, but it's only until Monday. After that it's just 2 hours a week.
We've already learned quite a lot of Chinese. We can introduce ourselves, order food and drinks, and a few other things. And that after only 4 days! Hutong School is on this street:

A real Shanghai street: smaller buildings with a gigantic skyscraper in the background. Shanghai really is a varied city, you see everything here!
Beer and food
The food here is really fantastic. I take so many photos of food that this has more or less become a foodie blog! Here are a few more photos of what I ate this week! These dumplings cost around 10–12 RMB everywhere, which is about 1.50 EUR. Highly recommended!
We went to the beer tasting at De Refter again too. This week it was Delirium night: we had Tremens, Nocturnum, Red, Argentum, Deliria and Christmas. They were all really good! My top three is Argentum, Red and Tremens. The least good was Nocturnum, I didn't think much of it. I think we're going to become regulars here!
And what goes better with Belgian beer than Belgian fries!
Internship
Yesterday we also had our first meeting at G2Studio. It was mainly about what we'll be doing during our internship. G2Studio uses a web platform that was built by last year's intern, who was also a student at Thomas More. They use the platform to create quotations, request time off, there's a calendar, …
Our task is to extend this platform a bit and improve existing features. That's not so simple, though. The code that's been written isn't great: everything is written in PHP, but without a PHP framework. The code is also a bit messy, so it can sometimes take real digging to find out why something doesn't work. But I'm fully confident I can do it. I've already tried changing small things and that went well.
After that we'll probably get to work on a new project later in the internship. There are no details on that yet, though.
So we'll be busy enough, but I'm sure it'll be fun!

Will en Graddy
